How to colour a terracotta soldier

Interactive 3D technology allows you to colour a sculpture

The special exhibition ’The First Emperor – China’s Terracotta Army’ gives visitor the opportunity to colour a replica of one of the displayed terracotta sculptures using interactive 3D technology. The technology has been designed for the exhibition in co-operation with CAVI, Aarhus University. On a computer screen, visitors choose bright colours much similar to the ones originally used to colour the sculptures more than 2000 years ago. The colours are projected onto the replica of a terracotta general and finally, the coloured sculpture is transferred to a screen on the wall, where it is displayed with others to make up a terracotta army. Watch the video on the left side of your screen to see how the innovative technology was designed.
